The Meeting Point
This is a virtual board, aiming to put in touch people who share some interest or issues related to Narrative and Learning Environments.

Do you have in mind a research question for which you would like to compare your view point with someone else? Or would you like to ask suggestions for some reading or site to visit? Or are you looking for co-operation on some problem?

This is the place where you can post a note with your request, by sending a mail to the SIG leader.

If you wish to reply to a posting, please contact directly its author.

I am seeking bibliographical references concerning the use of a narrative approach (e.g. virtual storytelling, interactive drama, role playing and so on) for the early learning of a foreign language. Does anybody have some suggestions?

For one of my projects I am trying to find literature that can give me some insights into the characteristics and possible contribution of narrative (style) for user instructions (e.g., how to learn to use a computer). My research on user instructions has concentrated on instructive styles, but I see lots of examples in which narrative and instructive are mixed to some extent. Indeed with the current branding approaches the borders between informing, instructing, motivating and even entertaining become increasingly blurred.

I wondered if any member of the SIG could direct me to some good references.

I am looking for people interested in studying the narrativity of non-textual representations. With the term narrativity I mean the ability of a pictorial representation to raise a whole narrative in the mind of its users.

Does anybody have some experience on this concept or on similar ones? I would be glad to share bibliographies (mine and yours) and to compare points of view on some issues in this field.
